13-Year-Old Son Saves Up, Trades X-Box To Buy His Mom A Car

As a parent, you do your best to prepare for any situation, but sometimes life can be cruel and unpredictable. No one has all of the answers, but family stands by you through thick and thin. A 13-year-old boy in Nevada is proving to the world that age is just a number when it comes to taking care of the people you love. His selfless gift to single mom, Krystal, has the internet in tears.

William Preston is a 13-year-old boy who lives in Fernley, Nevada with his mom Krystal, his two siblings, and their three dogs.

The Preston family recently started their life over after some unfortunate events and Krystal is doing her best to make ends meet with no means of transportation.

William noticed how much his mom was struggling and being the oldest man in the house, he decided to do something big for her.

“At my low point, here comes my son,” Krystal said. Everybody goes through rough patches in their life, but there’s good that can come from any situation as long as somebody with a heart does it.”

The 13-year-old picked up a few odd jobs, doing yard work for neighbors and researching ways to save money.

“I saw on YouTube where people get their mom a car and then surprise her with it,” William said. “I wanted to do that.”

While scrolling through Facebook, William saw a woman selling a 1999 white Chevrolet Metro and decided to reach out to her. He even offered to trade his X-Box to make up the difference.

“It was really cheap so I asked her if I could trade it or earn it, and at first she said no and after she thought about it, then she said yes,” William said.

After purchasing the vehicle, William couldn’t wait to tell his mom the news.

“Mom, I got you a car and she didn’t believe me,” he said.

The woman selling the car showed up at the Preston’s home and drove Krystal and William to pick up their new ride. Krystal couldn’t believe what her son had done.

“I lost it,I bawled, I was just like, there’s no way,” Krystal said. “And then she gave me the keys and the paperwork.”

The mom of three was beside herself with gratitude.

“The fact that my kid did this, I’m proud but as a mom I’m supposed to be able to take care of my kids, I’m supposed to do this, not the other way around,” Krystal said.

Krystal later shared the story on her Facebook page where it went viral, snagging the attention of a local radio station 101.3 FM Biggest Little Radio.

“I did not by any means think that the next morningI was going to have a radio crew at my front door and it kind of goes from there,” Krystal said.

The family was overwhelmed by the amount of attention, but William says he didn’t buy his mom a car for the publicity.

“I didn’t really want that to happen, I just wanted to do it, that’s all,” William said.

And Krystal couldn’t be more proud of her son.

“What 13-year-old buys their mom a car? I don’t know any,” Krystal said. “I can’t even express it; there are no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am.”
