Mailman Who Leaves Treats For The Dogs On His Route Receives Touching Note From An Owner

By now you’ve probably realized we’re pretty big dog people on this site. Well, to be fair, we’re pretty big animal people in general, but dogs have a special place in our hearts. Which is probably why this story about a mailman who leaves treats for the puppers on his route has us feeling all kinds of emotional. Warning, you might want tissues for this one.

Twitter user @amorningsting recently shared these heartbreaking texts from her dad, a mailman who loves to leave treats for the dogs on his route.

On Monday, the mailman discovered a baggy of treats and a note from one of the dog’s owners letting him know their pup Gretchen had passed away.

The note reads:

Gretchen passed away yesterday. She asked me to ask you if you would share her treats that she never got to finish with the other dogs on your route. She always enjoyed seeing you come to the door and was always happy to get a snack from you.

Thank you,

The Cimino Family

In his texts, the mailman described Gretchen as a huge German Shepherd and a teddy bear.

Definitely not crying.

The now-viral tweet has garnered over 800,000 likes and users are distraught over the sweet note.

People even shared pictures of their own dogs in hopes of cheering up the mailman.

Now, if you’ll excuse me I need to go squeeze my own pup.
