High School Program Leaves Notes Of Encouragement On Studentsâ Lockers
On Friday, students of Lewiston High School were surprised by sticky notes on their lockers that each held a different message of encouragement. Every single one of the 1,400 students received their own note. Messages included positive sentiments like, ÂIf youÂre reading this, I love youÂ, âDonÂt sell yourself shortÂ, and ÂYou are enough just as you are.Â
The initiative was organized by the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council as part of the ÂLock in Your Kindness project. Thursday night membersof the community came together in the school library to write the notes and then attached them to rows upon rows of lockers.
LYAC member Christine Chasse was more than happy with the results and excited to see the other studentsâ faces light up.
ÂIt was good to make someoneÂs day, she said. The project was also intended to raise awareness about bullying and improve the schoolâs climate.
ÂThe notes help them realize you really do affect everyone in life, Chasse said.
