Five teenage boys from Caldwell, Idaho are being dubbed heroes after helping an elderly man in their hometown.
Victor Ornelas, Isaac Hernandez, Diego Ramirez, Devan Ornelas, and Josh Sorg were making their way to a local basketball court when they noticed Jose Gomez, an elderly man who had fallen down from his walker.
Without hesitation, the boys pulled over and rushed to help Gomez back to his feet.
“I saw that he fell so I stepped on my brakes,” Hernandez told KTVB-TV.
“We parked and we all ran out. We picked him up and we asked if he was okay, he said he was fine,” he said. “So we just kept walking with him. We said we were going to walk him all the way to his house.”
The friends even walked Gomez home and checked him for injuries.
“His knee was bleeding,” Hernandez said. “And so we grabbed napkins and we put alcohol on and we cleaned him up.”
Unbeknownst to the boys, a neighbor caught their kind act on camera and shared the video to Facebook.

“I had dropped off my kids at their cousin’s house, and on my way home I spotted an elderly man walking,” the neighbor, Erika Tovar, told Yahoo Lifestyle. “He was very stable, so once I had passed him I kept my eye on him in my rearview mirror, and sure enough, he fell.”
Tovar says she turned around after noticing Gomez fall, but the boys were able to help him first.“I figured there were enough people to help, so I just started snapping pics,” she said.
It wasn’t long before Tovar’s post started gaining traction and even got the attention of The Sweet Spot Bakery nearby. An employee reposted the boys’ photos in hopes that someone could identify them.
“We would sure like to treat them to a treat on us!” the employee wrote. “What a wonderful positive story! Great job boys! This makes our hearts happy!”
Tery Gomez, the elderly man’s daughter, was able to track the boys down and brought her father to reunite with his helpers at the bakery earlier this month.
So this happened today!! We got to treat the wonderful Caldwell boys who helped an elderly man who had fallen. Great…
The boys were showered with sugary treats and other thank-you gifts by Gomez’s daughter.
“Caldwell is kind of seen in the negative most of the time and this is beyond positive,” she said. “We have some great things happening in Caldwell. So everyone wanted to show some love to the boys.”
No one was more grateful than Gomez himself.
“I was walking just right, and then suddenly I went down,” he told ABC 10. “And then they come over and they [said], ‘You want us to take you to your room?’ So I said, ‘OK, let’s go.’ It made me feel good.”
