If you put your mind to something and work hard, nothing is impossible. This is what motivated one high school teen from Ohio to start living a healthier lifestyle and in the process, he’s lost more than 100 pounds.
Michael Watson is a student at McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio who used to get bullied for his weight.
Two years ago, the 6-foot-4 inch teen weighed 335 pounds and had little self-esteem.
“My self-confidence was zero,” Watson told CNN.
During his junior year, Michael decided to make some healthy lifestyle changes, including walking to and from school every day.
The walk takes about 20 minutes each way and he never took a day off despite rain or snow.
This new routine helped him lose more than 100 pounds in the past couple of years.
Michael says he never let the bullying stop him, it only fueled his motivation for walking.
Since his drastic transformation, the soon-to-be graduate’s self-confidence has soared.
Though he was once too shy to approach the girls in his school, he now has no trouble asking one out, according to CNN.
“I lost a lot of my insecurities when I lost all that weight,” he said. “You work for it and you get it, so it feels amazing for sure.”

Terrance Jones, a family specialist and graduation coach at Mckinley High School, says Michael’s courageous journey stuck with him.
“It’s an example of courageous personal development that’s rare for a high school student,” Jones told CNN. “Mike’s decision to the initiative to live a healthier lifestyle and to stay consistent with it will always stay with me.”
After graduation, Michael plans to take a full-time job and pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
He says that though his journey wasn’t always the easiest, he never gave up.
“Anybody can do it if they put their mind to it.”
