Cruelty-Free Circus Is Using Hypnotic Holograms To Bring The Magic Of Live Animals Without The Suffering

The wonders of the circus are imprinted on most people’s brains during childhood. It’s a place of suspended reality, full of stumbling clowns, flying acrobats, and a variety of animals from all over the world.

Unfortunately it’s also a hotbed of animal cruelty as lions, elephants and other animals are often subjected to harsh conditions and punishments all for the entertainment of the crowd.

Now a German circus is taking a different approach that’s both high-tech and cruelty-free by using dazzling holograms in their circus act instead of live animals.

According to Bored Panda the circus, Circus Roncalli, has been in business since 1976 but has now ventured into using holograms instead of animals during their performances, a feat achieved with an impressive array of 3D projectors.

“Roncalli wanted to create 3D holographic images from projectors while filling the arena measuring 32 meters (105 feet) wide and 5 meters (16 feet) deep with 360 visibility for the entire audience.”

It’s an innovative solution that preserves the spectacle of the circus in a newly humane manner. It might also be the first good use of holograms. In photos and videos of the effect the glowing blue elephant looks particularly impressive. It also isn’t every day that you get to see a 10-foot goldfish swim by and the possibilities are endless.
