Cosplayers are known for being dedicated to their character-inspired costumes. Comic book conventions are always filled with people who go all out with head-to-toe creations based on all their favorite fictional heroes. One cosplayer took it one step further by making her costume a part of her body.
A woman with an amputated arm created a lightsaber attachment as part of her Jedi cosplay.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, actress Angel Giuffria teamed up with her friend Trace Wilson to create Star Wars-inspired lightsaber attachments for their amputated arms. She dressed as a Jedi and he dressed as a Sith, and with their light-up sabers, they looked totally ready for action.
Giuffria wrote about her Comic-Con experience on Instagram and said:
Real amputee Jedi?! YES! Me & my bionic partner in crime†@eatpraynub†(Sith) had fun doing a†#StarWars†cosplay at†#SDCC! Iím absolutely loving wearing my lightsaber attachment for my bionic arm – while trying to safely keep my fingers crossed for an audition for†@starwarsone day.
Wouldnít it be a cool addition to have actual amputees in the film series since thereís so many amputee characters! Iíve been told I look like†#CarrieFisher†a few times in my life and told I look like†#LukeSkywalker†a few times too (arms not face Iím assuming????). Hereís me embracing both sides! Thank you to†@eatpraynub†&†@saber_forge for the saber parts!

Giuffria has been getting a lot of love from fans who appreciate her creative arm attachment. She’s even gotten attention from one very famous fan: Luke Skywalker himself.
Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies retweeted Giuffria and called her a “future Jedi.”
Look no further than inspirational #BionicActress @aannggeellll for the next generation of @starwars heroes-
Clearly you believe in yourself. Now all you've got to do is work hard, never give up & ANYTHING'S possible! (The Force is obviously with you…)??-Mar????#FutureJedi https://t.co/agZsbzrX6z

Giuffria is setting an inspiring example for how the things that make us different are often our greatest strengths.
