A 100-Year-Old Lady Received a Surprise Birthday Cake From Her Trash Collectors

There are some people you interact with all the time who you don’t even realize are making an impact. These are the people that you share passing moments with, like the mailman or the checkout person at the supermarket. But, the truth is, when you see these people almost every day, they become a part of your life – and a part of all your big celebrations.

A group of trash collectors in the United Kingdom surprised one of their favorite customers with a cake on her 100th birthday.

Reaching 100 years old is a huge milestone, and Mercy was clearly touched by the trash collectors’ kind gesture.

In the video when Mercy answers the door, she is visibly emotional seeing the group. They all sing to her and ask her if she’s “all right.”

The video is receiving a whole bunch of positive comments, especially from people who understand the importance of caring for elderly people. One Reddit user wrote:

“This is honestly one of the nicest things I’ve ever seen. I used to work in a retirement home and there’s nothing more special than seeing the residents be surprised and happy by nice gestures. We don’t tend to think about it a lot, but old age can be very hard for a lot of people and I’d imagine this really helped brighten up her day.”
