Sometimes ordinary objects become imbued with special meaning when they remind us of someone. And when the object is your only memento of someone you lost long ago it can be even more meaningful.

A man named Clayton Walker took to Twitter to share a video about such an item: A shirt of his late fathers, who passed away when Walker was only a year old.

On Twitter Walker wrote: “My father passed away when I was 1 and I only have a few shirts of his so I wore one for date night with my momma” and shared a video of his mother’s reaction to seeing him in the shirt.

After her initial surprise Walker’s mother teared up and the two shared a sweet hug.

The internet exploded in response to the heartfelt moment and the video was Liked nearly 1 million times on Twitter.

In most reactions the tears were flowing.

Apparently Walker experienced some criticism online for his post but he quickly pushed back against accusations that he was just being cute with his mom for attention or “clout”, saying “@ all you haters my momma literally my best friend” along with a video of the pair dancing like maniacs.

Unsurprisingly, that tweet went viral too.
