Getting work can be a nightmare. Have a higher degree but little work experience? Too bad. Have tons of work experience but no degree? Also too bad. People need to get creative, which is exactly what one Southampton University student did.

Josue Bapeck, a third-year studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering, decided to stand in different London tube stations every day this week with a sign reading “Motivated Southampton University student seeking work experience in management consulting. Kindly take a picture and spread the word! Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.”

The original photo has been retweeted over 15,000 times. People seem really determined to help Bapeck on his search for work!

“I thought it would be a good idea to make myself more visible to employers by doing something as brave a this,” Bapeck told The Soton Tab.

Apparently, Bapeck had been applying for work online but hadn’t had much luck. So, he decided to make himself more visible with the sign.

“A lot of people were stopping and being really encouraging,” he said.

Milly Poole, who originally tweeted the photo, was inspired by Bapeck’s tenacity and ingenuity.

“For me, what I care about most is supporting someone to achieve their dreams and it’s so humbling to see how there’s so much positivity and so much love from everyone retweeting and liking to help him,” she said.

While some folks criticized Bapeck’s strategy—and his handwriting—others including author Neil Gaiman shared the story.

Eventually, someone helped him upgrade his sign. Teamwork makes the dream work!
