When Amanda Zimmerman realized that her baby wasn’t breathing, she was distraught. The Kissimmee, Florida mother went into panic mode trying to rescue her child. Luckily, a hero police officer was there to save the day.
Some quick-thinking police officers saved a baby from choking, and his body camera captured it all on film.
Zimmerman was terrified when she realized her 18-month-old child MJ was choking on a Goldfish cracker.
MJ was unable to breathe and became limp. Zimmerman sprang into action. She saw a police patrol car nearby and quickly flagged it down.
“At that point, I was just beside myself,” Zimmerman told WESH 2 News.
The police officers stopped and Zimmerman handed her baby off to one of them. As the officer began performing infant CPR, Zimmerman cried in the background. All of it was captured in the dramatic body camera footage.

In the video, Zimmerman is shown in complete distress. She’s even guided away from the scene by one police officers. Meanwhile, the video shows the police officers patting the baby’s back and administering assisted breaths. Eventually, MJ finally lets out a gasp, much to the relief of Zimmerman and all the officers who were helping.
After MJ started breathing again, he was taken to the hospital for a check-up.
Doctors say MJ is expected to make a full recovery. “Being without oxygen for that long and then just coming out? Ya know, he didn’t miss a beat,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman was also very grateful to the officers who were there at the exact right moment to save her son’s life.
“God put them where they needed to be and it was just amazing that they were coming down at that very moment,” said Zimmerman. She said that from now on she’ll call MJ Miracle Michael, thanks to the miraculous way he survived.
