Heartwarming Video Of A Boy Thanking His Football Coach Goes Viral

A heartwarming video of a first-grader thanking his football coach for all the hard work he does went viral, with folks praising both the coach and the child.

In the video, Jayden—a first-grader at Charles Elementary School in Richmond, Indiana—presents Coach Richard Nelloms with a mug that reads “A good coach can change the game. A great coach can change a life.”

Coach Nelloms gives Jayden a hug and says, “Thanks, buddy!” Then Jayden reads his coach a little note that he wrote.

“Dear Coach Richard, you have been the greatest coach of my life. I love you Richard,” Jayden reads, beginning to cry a bit. “You help me love football again. Thank you for being my favorite coach. Love, Jayden.”

On his Facebook page, Coach Nelloms shared that he rewatched the video later and also cried.

“But after I watched it, I couldn’t hold back my tears. This was something that I felt so lucky to have an opportunity to do. I was so nervous at first, some of the parents had to tell me to raise my voice so they could hear me lol I felt blessed with the change to be myself & teach my players how to have fun no matter what,” Nelloms wrote. “It’s a dream of mine to make an impact on as many souls as possible. Thank you Jayden for allowing me to fulfill a dream of mine!!!”

Jayden’s mom Courtney also wrote about the exchange on Facebook, saying that their hearts “are overwhelmed” by the support they have received.

I just wanna take a moment from all of this chaos and say, our hearts are overwhelmed!!! We never in a million years…
