Five-Year-Old With Birthday Canceled Over Coronavirus Gets Massive Outpouring Of Love On Twitter

For the foreseeable future, it looks like we’re going to have to start canceling important events. Birthdays, weddings, holidays, funerals—anything meaningful that many people can come together for. It’s disappointing to need to practice social distancing and miss a special day, but it’s necessary right now. However, that doesn’t mean the day needs to go by unremarked upon. Thanks to social media, folks are being extra effusive about sharing well wishes with those whose events have been put on hold because of coronavirus precautions.

One woman shared on Twitter yesterday that her daughter’s fifth birthday was canceled because of a fever in the family: “Twitter, I have a request. It’s my daughter, Rosie’s 5th birthday tomorrow. But my partner has a fever, so we have to self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Her party is cancelled and grandparents barred. Could you send her some pics of your dogs (or animals generally) to cheer her up?”

You better believe Twitter came through for Rosie. Folks from all over the globe sent their happy birthday wishes and pictures of their pets.

This “talking” dog especially wowed Rosie:

It definitely sucks to have your special day canceled because of a pandemic, but we hope these adorable animals helped Rosie feel more cheerful.
