Reese Witherspoon’s Label Is Giving Free Dresses To Teachers Working From Home

Add Draper James to the growing list of generous brands offering donated products to essential workers who are doing their best to maintain the status quo amid coronavirus outbreak.

Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon launched Southern-inspired fashion label, Draper James, in 2015. Now she wants to donate 250 dresses to U.S. teachers, to thank them for their outstanding efforts to keep things running.

The label made the announcement Thursday, encouraging followers to tag a teacher in the comments to spread the word.

Witherspoon speaks of the initiative, “These past few weeks have shown me so much about humanity… I’m an eternal optimist, so I always look for the bright side of things. And I have been so encouraged by the ways people are really showing up for each other. Particularly the teachers. During quarantine, teachers are broadcasting lessons from their own homes and figuring out new remote-learning technology and platforms on the fly, all while continuing to educate and connect with our kids.”

“Advocating for the children of the world is no easy task, so I wanted to show teachers a little extra love right now.”

The Draper James <3 Teachers giveaway will be open through Sunday April 5, at 11:59pm eastern time.

Teachers will need to fill out a form, upload a photo of their school ID, and provide the name of their school and state, as well as the grade level and subject they teach. Eligible teachers will be able to cop a free dress until supplies are exhausted, but all who apply will receive a 25% off promo code.

And to mark Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5, the brand will offer all educators 25% off.

Although the dresses won’t get teachers higher pay, a little recognition can’t hurt. Witherspoon’s thoughtful generosity will surely lift teachers’ spirits and throw a much-deserved spotlight on some of the hardest working people out there right now.

Witherspoon, 44, most recently produced and starred in Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” and is hosting “Shine on At Home,” a series of conversations with experts who offer guidance in navigating life during the coronavirus pandemic.
