YouTuber Casey Neistat Got An Unexpected And Heartwarming Response After Scratching A Stranger’s Car

When YouTuber Casey Neistat accidentally scratched a stranger’s car while parking in Los Angeles last Monday, he left an obligatory “I’m sorry I scratched your car” note complete with contact information to pay the damages.

Neistat, who has 12 million Youtube followers, tweeted about what happened next.

“Been complaining about LA a lot, lemme share why I love LA.”

He continued, “I scratched a guy’s car this morning when parking my truck, total accident, small but noticeable scratch.”

In case you can’t read Neistat’s handwriting, the note he left on the stranger’s windshield reads, “Hello. I scratched the hood of your car while parking mine. Please call/text so I can pay for the repair. My sincerest apologies for the trouble.”

The stranger’s response via text later that afternoon wasn’t what Neistat had expected:

“Hey thank you so much for the note. Please don’t worry about the scratch. Any money you had to put towards my car feel free to please donate to a local Venice food bank. Have a great week!”

Neistat followed up with a screenshot of a receipt for his donation to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank for $250— in honor of “Mr. Scratched Car.”

The incredibly chill and gracious stranger thanked Neistat in a text, “Don’t sweat it. Really appreciate you reaching out and donating! The world needs it right now 🤙🏼🤙🏼”

The exchange has since gone viral on Twitter with over 21,000 retweets.

Neistat and his family recently moved to Los Angeles from New York City, and the YouTuber has been vocal about his struggle to adapt to a new city. Hopefully, the stranger’s kindness makes him feel a bit more at home.

As for Neistat’s driving—his excuse is that he drives “a 17-year-old lifted pick up.” He also admits he’s a terrible driver.

Luckily, pro racecar driver Nico Rosberg offered to help out in his reply to the thread:
