Episode 7 of John Krasinski’s quarantine themed Youtube show Some Good News featured a couple’s surprise wedding on Sunday.
“I got ordained for you guys,” the host told his guests, recently engaged Susan and John. Krasinski invited the couple on the show after hearing that John’s proposal was an homage and reenactment of the proposal Krasinski made as “Jim” to Pam, on The Office.
As you may remember, Jim and Pam’s wedding story in season five spanned two episodes of the beloved sitcom, beginning with Jim’s proposal and ending with a surprise dance performed by Dunder Mifflin co-workers.
Office super fans John and Susan recreated Jim’s proposal when John got down on one knee at a gas station and told Susan he “couldn’t wait any longer” to propose as he asked her to marry him.
So Krasinski congratulated the couple on his show and thanked them for proving that the proposal tactic works “100 percent of the time.”
He then surprised John and Susan, telling them he was ready to marry them, right then and there, virtually. With the push of a button, Krasinski added the couple’s family members and the bridal party to their Zoom call.
Jenna Fischer who played Pam joined the call as Susan’s maid of honor. The actress had decorated her home with flowers for the occasion and told Susan, “I don’t know what your wedding colors are, but I went with pink and white.”
Krasinski added Zac Brown to the call so he could provide music for Susan to “walk down the aisle” to. Then Susan and John exchanged their vows as everyone on the call tried to hold back tears and the couple was pronounced man and wife.
Fischer paraphrased one of her lines from The Office and told the newlyweds, “One day your kids are going to assume that their parents are soulmates and in your case, they’ll be right.”
Krasinski, of course, had one more trick up his sleeve.
“Because you so elegantly ripped off our show for your proposal, I feel like it’s only fitting that you rip off the wedding too!” he said, queuing up Chris Brown’s “Forever” as the entire cast of The Office suddenly joined the call— all dancing like they had at Jim and Pam’s wedding.
Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Angela Kinsey, B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling, Ellie Kemper, Brian Baumgartner, Ed Helms, Phyllis Smith, Kate Flannery, Oscar Nunez, and Creed Bratton all reunited to share in Susan and John’s special day.
It wasn’t just the newlyweds who were stunned and touched by the musical reunion, the Zoom ceremony lifted viewers’ spirits all over the world.
