Corey Taylor, vocalist of rock band Slipknot, recently raised over $150,000 for COVID-19 relief at his guitar auction.

The $75,000 raised from guitar sales was matched by eBay for a grand total of $150,000 in COVID-19 relief funds. The money will benefit Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization operating all over the US and in more than 80 countries around the world.

Taylor put up 13 extremely valuable guitars and basses for sale at his eBay auction.

Some of the instruments auctioned off included rarities like Taylor’s gold metallic Gibson Memphis Dave Grohl DG-335 (#237 of only 400 manufactured), a Gold Top Gibson Classic Les Paul, a tan Fender Acoustic, a black SDGR Bass, and a pearl blue Gibson Dave Grohl Signature guitar (#87 of only 200 in existence).

Direct Relief was founded in 1948 by refugee war immigrants to the US. The non-profit’s dynamic programs shift and change according to world circumstances in order to prioritize the world’s most vulnerable and at-risk populations at any given time, regardless of politics, religion, or financial capability.

Since mid-January, Direct Relief has delivered nearly 10,000 shipments of more than 4.3 million masks, 3.1 million gloves, 622,000 face shields, and 100,000 gowns to medical facilities all over the US and to over 50 other countries affected by the pandemic.
