The Associated Press reports that Floyd’s family has accepted Mayweather’s offer.
“He’ll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, he is definitely paying for the funeral,”CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellbere told ESPN.com on Monday.
Ellerbe says Mayweather has been in touch with the family, but has not yet met them.
According to TMZ, Mayweather’s staff said the champion boxer is, “… just doing what he feels is right in his heart.”
And this isn’t the first time.
Mayweather previously footed the bill for the funeral expenses of former boxer Genaro Hernandez, who died of cancer at age 45 in 2011.
In addition to the Houston memorial, the former five-division world champion will pay for Floyd’s funeral services in Minnesota, Charlotte, and a fourth location as well.
