An 8-year-old girl in England has learned to communicate with her deaf delivery driver using sign language.
Tallulah’s mother Amy Roberts, caught her daughter on video, signing ‘have a good day’ to delivery driver Tim Joseph in front of the family’s home in Ashton-under-Lyne, in Greater Manchester.

Their package delivery man is named Tim. He’s deaf.
Tallulah and Tim developed quite the friendship over the lockdown.
Tallulah’s mom taught her to sign. She made Tim a “thank you” that he displays on his truck proudly.
Joseph then taught Tallulah to say ‘good morning, have a good day.’ She repeated his gestures, and the thrilled delivery driver smiled at Tallulah, flashing a thumbs up in response.
Tallulah and Joseph’s unlikely friendship began at the beginning of the UK’s lockdown when Tallulah drew a picture of a rainbow for the driver to thank him for his efforts amid the coronavirus pandemic.
#ProudMum Roberts tweeted that Joseph still has the drawing hanging in the window of his delivery vehicle.
This is our @Hermesparcels delivery man, we see him 1 or 2 times a week, start of lockdown Tallulah drew him a #thankyou 🌈, he still has it proudly on show in his van, they have built up quite a friendship over these last few weeks @ststephensaud #proudmum pic.twitter.com/JELmaibyIM— Amy Roberts (@mummybear1903) June 19, 2020
The video of Tallulah and Joseph signing with one another has racked up over 50,000 likes since Roberts posted it.
Joseph told the BBC, “Tallulah realized I was deaf and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, ’have a good day,’ I think she learnt sign language at school.”
“I was very happy, and I then showed Tallulah how to sign, ‘good morning, have a good day,’ and then she signed it perfectly and it made my day.”
Joseph said he was overwhelmed by the positive response to the video from people on social media.

“I hope more people learn to sign and we bring more people together,” he said.
And the internet agrees! Start learning now:
With this little sheet you can communicate anything! Whilst at the same time helping your child’s spelling practice!!! Pop it up in the bathroom and they can learn whilst teeth cleaning or when “sat” for 5 mins 😊 pic.twitter.com/PGKPAdh5FG— Sarah Harwood Ⓜ️ (@_SHarwood) June 20, 2020
