Florida couple, Joseph and Eve Loreth, have been separated for seven months when Joseph had to go to the hospital. Eve stayed at the assisted living facility but was not able to reunite with her husband of over 60 years for 215 days.
They were able to keep in touch over the phone and were able to see each other through a glass barrier. But nothing compared to being able to see each other and hold each other again for the first time in seven months.
The assisted living facility they stay at, Rosecastle at Delaney Creek, shared a video on their Facebook of their emotional reconnection. In the video, a Rosecastle employee is seen wheeling Joseph towards Eve and she exclaims, “Oh my god,” multiple times. He starts to cry and so does she as the two embrace for the first time in what feels like forever.
“I didn’t think I would ever get over here. I missed you so much,” Joseph says to her in the video. To which she replies, “I missed you so much.”
He says, “Oh you’re alright. I love you so much. For sixty years. I’ve done something right.”
The couple spoke to their local news station about how the two of them met. Joseph explained, “I went roller-skating one night, and that’s where she caught up with me. She wouldn’t leave me be, she’s still chasing me around.”
The employee who helped the couple move in, Clary Abreu, said, “They’re kind of just the ones that enjoy each other’s company. It could be in complete silence and you can feel how happy they are just to be with one another.”
