Chinese Village Pools Their Money And Buys Flamethrowing Drones To Incinerate Deadly Wasp Nests

A village in China had a deadly wasp problem that was later fixed with the help of flame-throwing drones. Hundreds of stinging wasps terrorized the residents of a village outside the city of Chongqing.

The people of the village banded together to try and come up with a solution for the deadly wasps — a flame-throwing drone to incinerate their hives. If stung, people could develop liver failure, renal failure, cardiac injury or on some occasions death within a matter of hours.

Soon enough, the community pooled their money, which totaled around 80,000 RMB or about $12,250, which was enough for the drone, the assembly of the drone, and the flame-throwing parts.

The village teamed up with a volunteer group called Blue Sky Rescue, a team of people who conduct search and rescue missions. With their help, the villagers have been able to see 11 hives get burned up in flames, which is a good start but they have over 100 more to go.

One community member spoke to a local news station and said, “Now we don’t have to worry about being stung by a wasp.”
