Sean Diddy Combs has been making it rain in Miami by handing out $50 COVID relief “grants” to hundreds of residents in the city’s Overtown neighborhood. Together with his kids, Combs also gave folks supermarket gift cards and gift backs filled with essential hygiene products.
In conjunction with philanthropist Michael Gardner and local youth group Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success, Combs also helped to gather rent assistance for 175 area families struggling to make ends meet because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gardner spoke to The Miami Herald and told them that Diddy “wanted to do something to give back to the community. He didn’t want to have to go through the traditional channels. He really wanted to make sure the people in the community actually received the gift[s].” Observing COVID-19 protocol, Combs wore a face shield and gloves while being as hands-on as possible in distributing the items.
The crowd, which was estimated to be around 1,200 strong, was extremely grateful for Combs’ efforts to help them.
“It’s a blessing for me and my family to come out here and get a gift card,” said one woman. “[It’s] something I appreciate so much.”
