Today in good children doing nice things for their parents, a 24-year-old TikToker with over 2.3 million followers surprised his dad with emotional news: he paid off his father’s entire mortgage, allowing him to retire early.
Jamie Nyland from Gloucestershire shared a video of himself walking into his father Richard’s bedroom, tossing him the keys to the house, and saying, “I’ve just paid off your mortgage. I’ve just rung the bank and paid off every single penny left on your mortgage.”
Jamie added, “You now own this whole house. I swear. You’ve worked your whole life so now you can actually retire.”
Richard shook his head, repeating “no.” It was evident he was shocked by his son’s gesture, and he broke down in tears.
Then Richard handed the keys back to his son, saying: “It’s in the will. The house is yours. What’s mine is yours.”
“I love you so much. You paid off my mortgage, I’ve put you in my will. You retire me for life so I’ve set you up for life.”
The video ended with the father and son hugging, with Jamie captioning it: “I love you Dad.”
Jamie later explained that after ten years of doing Vine and YouTube, he was able to afford to pay off the mortgage: “It has been my only goal,” he said.
