COVID-19 has affected us all in a negative way, some more than others. In April 2020, the unemployment level peaked at 14.8 percent — the highest rate since the United States began recording unemployment statistics in 1948.
Millions of Americans have been struggling to survive, with federal government assistance weakening since COVID-19 hit the United States.
As a result, citizens are relying on each other to get by, with big-hearted people and business owners organizing assistance in the form of meals, grocery shopping, donating money, and coming up with creative ways to stay connected during this isolating time.
Recently, a group of New York City residents banded together to help a former employee of their building.
For 20 years, Rosa has cleaned the building. She is beloved by the residents and has been a familiar face to longtime dwellers.
When building residents heard Rosa had lost her job due to COVID-19, they knew they had to repay her for her years of service.

“The people that live here have been telling me a lot about your contributions to this building and a lot of people here in this building are a big fan of yours,” a real estate agent says in the video.
“You’re kind of a celebrity here, you’re very well-loved, and I know it’s been a tough year for you and your family and there’s been a lot of financial hardships,” the agent continued. “I have a contract here for a two-year lease on this unit that some of your fans knocked together. They’re taking care of it, all you have to do is sign and take the keys.”
Rosa immediately began crying and said “This isn’t real.”
The people in the video reassure her it is real, and she deserves all of it.
