Back in 2019, for their 21st birthday, Jaden Smith launched the “I Love You” food truck initiative, offering, “Healthy vegan for free” for those who need it most in Los Angeles’ area of Skid Row. Now, Smith is taking it to the next level and is planning to open an “I Love You” restaurant.
While the new eatery will be aligned with the same mission to make vegan food accessible to low-income communities, Smith wants those who can afford to pay for their meal to spend a little more as a means of paying forward.
“If you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”Jaden Smith
During the pandemic, Smith found a way to supply care packages to Skid Row that included food, masks, other clothing items, and hand sanitizer. The musician and philanthropist also launched The Water Box last October—a filtration system that helps provide clean water to areas without the essential resource, developed in response to the Flint Water Crisis.
“At any moment, we can create a new version of the world. I have a belief that the next thing that changes everything for everyone can be around the corner.”Jaden Smith
We imagine that this is Poppa Will Smith’s response to their child improving the world…
